It is sometimes forgotten that it is traditionally on Epiphany (6 January) when we celebrate the Magi, or Three Wise Kings, giving their gifts to the baby Jesus. The children’s charity, Brainwave, is asking people to think about giving a gift not of Myrrh and Frankincense but of winter clothing.

And with this continuing cold weather, we are finding that numerous people are relying on value for money outlets such as Brainwave’s Charity shops to top up their wardrobe. We are calling on your readers to have a rummage around in their cupboards and let us have any winter clothing that they have rarely worn, whether it is woollies, hats, gloves, coats or warm skirts or trousers. A donation will have the treble advantage of freeing up space for people’s new Christmas gifts, letting someone else benefit from some warm clothes and assisting Brainwave, who will use the income from the donations to support the hundreds of children attending our South West Centre. With your readers’ support we can make their future a little brighter'.
