Special Award highlights inspirational South Devon figure at Devon Tourism Awards

Last night’s Devon Tourism Awards singled out Pennywell Farm’s Chris Murray for an Outstanding Contribution Award as recognition of his passion for Devon’s tourism industry.

Rosie Bates, General Manger of Visit Devon said: “Chris has an infectious enthusiasm for the tourism industry which is truly inspiring. His work supporting the development of young people as well as the many other charitable endeavours he undertakes exemplifies his generous and animated character and we are thrilled to be able to say “thank you” on Devon’s behalf.”

The second Devon Tourism Awards, held this year at Sandy Park in Exeter, and once again compered by Devon’s fabulous Judi Spiers, celebrated the cream of Devon’s tourism industry and was attended by over 200 guests.

Pennywell Farm itself was recognised with a Gold Award for Visitor Attraction of the Year and Gold Awards were also presented to Compton Pool Farm in Marldon for Self Catering Establishment of the Year and Riverford Farm Foods in Staverton for Food & Drink Devon ‘Producer of the Year’ Award.

South Devon businesses scooping Silver Awards include River Dart Adventures in the Visitor Attraction of the Year category and Ilsington Country House Hotel in the Hotel of the Year category. A Bronze award went to Bell & Loxton from Kingsbridge.

No fewer than 13 Gold Awards and 15 Gold Product Awards were presented in total to businesses across 10 categories.
