South West based Care Home recognises importance of good first aid training when caring for its residents
Residential care homes have been in the spotlight recently and emphasis has been put on the importance of good first aid training for all staff. Sherborne-based Southern First Aid Training recently carried out several training sessions for the staff of Eastbury House in Sherborne. Local SW based company joins Heart Charity in plea to Government to include life saving skills in national curriculum
Sherborne-based Southern First Aid Training has applauded the actions of the British Heart Foundation which is calling on the government to include the teaching of life-saving skills in the national curriculum. In a survey carried out by the British Heart Foundation, 73% of schoolchildren wanted to learn how to resuscitate someone and give first aid. More than 75% of teachers and parents also agreed it should be taught in schools. The survey questioned 2,000 parents, 1,000 children and 500 teachers. Philip Hall from Southern First Aid Training agrees that such emergency life support skills (ELS) should be taught as part of personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) lessons and alongside physical education, citizenship and science.
