Çesme Marina: shoreside development thrives as marina village attracts leading international brands

When Çesme Marina opens in May this year, it will be well on its way to becoming a thriving consumer yachting hub, with brands such as Helly Hansen, Quiksilver, Slam and Nike already contracted to take space in the marina village.

Located on the Izmir Peninsula on Turkey’s Aegean coast, Çesme Marina will have berths for 400 yachts up to 60m, as well as over 6,000m2 of waterfront property for the shops, restaurants and other outlets that will serve the yachting community and land-based visitors alike.

Çesme Marina, jointly owned by Camper & Nicholsons Marinas and Turkish investment company IC Holding, reports that more than 80 per cent of the commercial tenancies are either already contracted or close to concluding contract negotiations.

Other companies already committed to Çesme include yacht brokerage, cafés, restaurants and a children’s entertainment outlet. Those looking to conclude in the coming weeks include Azimut Yachts and the marine equipment and clothing brands of North Sails, Murphy & Nye, Gant and Calvin Klein – plus a major supermarket, a boutique hotel and a yacht club.

Nick Maris, chairman of Camper & Nicholsons Marinas, said: “Turkey, with its incomparable coastline and long history of seafaring, is one of the most important yachting areas in the Mediterranean. As we approach the marina’s opening date in May, it is evident from the interest in the commercial tenancies that Çesme is set to become a centre for luxury yachting in this area.”

Çesme Marina offers access to one of the world’s most beautiful cruising grounds. The marina is set in a natural harbour and will provide all marine technical facilities as well as fuel, fresh water, sewage pump-out and electricity. An 80 ton travel hoist and boat mover will be available for haul-out and storage ashore, along with an extensive range of technical services for yacht maintenance, engine repairs and electronics.

As an ideal location with access to spectacular areas in the Aegean – the Greek islands of Chios, Samos and Lesvos are all close enough for a weekend cruise – Çesme is also perfect for day sailing to more local quiet and secluded anchorages.

The marina is just a 45 minute drive from the international airport at Izmir and is located right at the western end of the Izmir peninsula with easy access 24 hours a day in all weather conditions.
